Betting odds for the 2009/10 season

With the 2009/10 season now a third of the way through… we thought it was time we took a look at the online betting odds for Manchester United. Following a confident start, United now find themselves second favourites for the Premier League title – behind odds-on Chelsea.

Bookmaker bwin prices Manchester United up as 2/1 to lift the Premiership trophy… while they are a huge 8/1 to be win the Champions League.

Elsewhere United’s Wayne Rooney is 5/1 to finish top scorer and Berbatov is 75/1… although let’s be honest he isn’t going to do it!

United limp past QPR in League Cup

Manchester United struggled to break down a resilient Queens Park Rangers side in what was a somewhat dire encounter. It wasn’t until the 76th minute that Carlos Tevez finally broke the deadlock with a Penalty kick. The striker made no mistake from the spot following a clumsy challenge by former Newcastle defender Peter Ramage on United youngster Danny Welbeck.

United went into the counter strong favourites in the online betting markets, but despite dominating the fixture the side simply couldn’t convert pressure into chances.

Samuel di Carmine had an effort ruled out for QPR in the closing stages, but in truth they never looked like grabbing an equaliser.

Chelsea vs Manchester United

Sir Alex Ferguson opted to start with Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench, and it seemed that this was a good idea as Manchester United surged forward with real purpose for the opening period, creating several good chances and putting together some good phases of play before they got their reward on the eighteenth minute. The goal came from South Korean Ji Sung Park after Chelsea goal keeper Petr Cech failed to gather a shot from Dimitar Berbatov. Continue reading »
